What’s in a name?
Meadowlands takes its name from a cherished and recurring sight within our community. Each year, a mother deer would return to the grounds to safely bring her babies into the world, nestled among blooming quince blossoms. This quiet moment of life and renewal became a meaningful symbol of care, safety, and new beginnings.
Quince blossoms have long been associated with renewal and the promise of what lies ahead. Their annual bloom reflects the spirit of Meadowlands, a community designed to welcome residents into a supportive home where they can feel renewed, nurtured, and confident as they embrace each day.
For a retirement and senior living community, the name Meadowlands represents gentle strength, continuity, and the beauty of life’s seasons. It speaks to a place where individuals are supported, valued, and encouraged to live each chapter with comfort, dignity, and a deep sense of belonging.

A community built with heart
In 2007, two longtime friends and healthcare professionals, Karim Kassam and Farid F. Damji, dreamed of a better way to care for seniors. Having watched their own parents and grandparents age with dignity and love, they felt called to extend that same level of care to others. Over a cup of coffee and a restaurant napkin, the foundation for Optima Living was born—a community built not just with bricks but with heart. In 2015, with the addition of Ali Shivji as a Principal, our leadership team expanded, along with our impact.
